Hair cut day

I have been talking about getting Lilly's hair cut for awhile, but have been super nervous about this. The last time we did it, Bean was about 16 months. She didn't do well at all, she totally freaked. Anyways, I bit the bullet and called Studio 36 for Kids and made an appointment.

This morning at 9:30 Lilly had her appointment. Things went really well. She got in the seat and Shannon asked us what she would like to watch. Dora of course! She got the DVD all set up and then Bean got a little nervous. She didn't want the cape and then she reached for me. I sat in the chair and then had Bean in my lap. She put the cape on and started watching Dora. Bean was a little apprehensive when Shannon started spraying her hair but was ok. When Shannon asked her to put her head down, she did, when she told her to look to the right/ left she did. I was so proud! Bean even let Shannon put some cool butterfly clips in her hair when she was all done. I am pretty sure when Bean looked in the mirror, she was pretty happy with the results too!

There was no candy bribing and no tears. A great success for the both of us! I did get a few pics of the after but they are from my phone. Yay again for a great hair cut experience.

All smiles!
She loved the butterfly clips.

Dinner Date

Since Ben is in Paris, Bean and I had a dinner date after a very long day for both of us. Wednesday morning Lilly came into my room at 4:20ish and I was like heck no, you can not be getting up. Well she wasn't up for a good reason she had a fever. She crawled into bed with me and attempted to fall back asleep, however she was so restless. So I moved her back to her bed and went to bed. When she woke up at normal time she still felt warm but I got her downstairs for her morning cereal bar and milk and gave her Tylenol. The I freaked because I really needed to get to work. I called my dad and he said he would be able to come over after his doctors appointment. So Bean and I hung out in the morning and my dad was able to get here around 12:45.

I recently got a new position at work, along with teaching in a classroom since we have been down one. So I have been doing three jobs at once and I have so much to do. So I got a few hours in and its better then none, since I am trying to save as much as I can for maternity leave.

When I got home from work, I had no desire to make anything. Plus Lilly had been eating well all day and her fever was gone, I decided that Panera was a good option. Lilly was more then excited to get out of the house, so off to dinner we went. Lilly got a turkey and cheese sandwich with a yogurt and I got a smokehouse turkey panini with chips. I must say Bean did an awesome job, she ate her food, plus some of my chips. I didn't even finish my whole sandwich or chips. It was a first for both of us! Haha.

We got done a little early so we took a quick trip to Michael's and got a few fun items to play with. All and all what could have been a very long and bad day, turned out ok! A special thanks to my dad who helped tremendously!

Enjoying some turkey
all smiles
hum, what should I eat next??
Drinking out of a cup like a big girl!

Potty!

So its been awhile since I posted about potty success but tonight we had a break through. Almost every night when Lilly goes up for a bath, we ask her if she wants to sit on the potty. The answer is almost always "No, I not sit on the potty". We figure when its time she will go.

Well today, we got home a little late from a fun afternoon at the pool with our best friends Soup and Al, and I got the bath already and no sitting on the potty, so we finished out bath time routine. When it was time to go get her diaper on, she ran out of room, saying "I go sit on the potty" and I was like ok, I went into her room thinking she was just delaying getting ready for bed but I see her go squat and make a funny face. I go run and check and she was peeing! I was so excited for her! I also think she was excited herself. Its like something clicked and she realized that she knew she had to pee and then she sat and went! It was so great! I immediately showered her with praise and we went down stairs and got some candy. When I asked her what she got the candy for she said for the potty.

I am still over the moon about it, I am also a little upset that Ben was not here to see it. Ben left for France today for a week. Its going to be just me and Bean for the week. I already can't wait for him to get home!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July America! What a 4th we had, it was hot, we tried new things and saw some awesome fireworks downtown. We got up nice and early Sunday morning, I would like to thank Bean for that. Not! Pretty much she went to bed at 9:30pm and got up at 6:15 am, not enough sleep for anyone but we made the best of the morning. Once we got dressed we headed outside to play for a bit. It was nice a hot but that didn't stop Lilly. Here are a few pics of our morning.

Lilly attempting to play catch with Ben.

Bubble time
Diva with her sunglasses and bubbles!
Ha, I love this picture! Deer in headlights! I think she just squirted herself, actually.

Serious Bean, I loved her outfit!

After our morning outside, we came in had some lunch and it was nap time. Lilly did take a good 2.5 hour nap. She really needed it and I enjoyed having sometime to relax without worrying what Bean was up to. When she woke up the three of us decided that we should attempt going to the Hampden Roosevelt Public Pool. A few moms from my mom's group had mentioned it was a good pool, and for $1.50 you can't beat the price. We put our bathing suits on and we were on our way. I only got a few pics from my phone but the baby pool is pretty awesome and overall it was a pretty good experience for all. Lilly got used to the pool and was walking all around it once she realized she could touch the bottom. She even let me carry her through the different fountains and sprayers.

After the pool, we came home showered had some dinner and got ready to head downtown. Benson invited us to his apartment to watch the fireworks. I really wasn't sure how things were going to go with Bean. She was going to be up past her bedtime and who knew if she would be terrified of the noise or not. We got to the apartment around 8:00 (and Benson has a pretty awesome apartment) and at about 9:15 pm we headed up the the rooftop. Lilly of course was all wound up, I am sure she was just trying to keep herself awake, but she didn't do too bad. At 9:30pm the fireworks started. Lilly sat right down with Grandpa and was mesmerized. She loved them. She wasn't scared at all. Again, I didn't bring my camera so these pics are from my phone. I can't wait to get the new iPhone so I have a flash.

We were so close we had firework ash on us and for those who were drinking, in their cups!

Bean chilling with Grandpa, she did such an amazing job, I was so proud of her!

At the finale she stood up to watch. Seriously--she loved them! She still talks about it and I am so glad she got to see her first fireworks, I hope next year goes as well.

3rd of July

Every year we have a 3rd of July party. This year I wasn't sure it was going to happen, but it did. Ben pretty much bought all the food, got the beer and soda and texted a few peeps and got the people here! This year was a smaller affair than usual, but of course, it ended up being a great time. I did, however, stay up way too late and naturally took too many pics of Bean and not enough of our guests. Even though it was a smaller crowd, it didn't stop them from drinking all the beer. Next year I hope to enjoy a few cold ones.

This is just to show off Lilly's festive nails.

Lilly and Alex in the pool! "we are swimming"! LOL

Another awesome view of the kiddos enjoying the pool. OK, Evan is enjoying the tractor but he was ready for the pool at any moment.

A few family members (and Ro!) eating! Kate will probably kill me for posting this picture but hey we are all family, right? :)

Ben and Benson tending to the grill. OK, Benson really just wanted to look like he was part of grilling, by holding onto a tool, but he wasn't--Ben did his usual best on the burgers and dogs. Benson, like the rest of us, just enjoyed eating the food off the grill! Busted Benson.

Probably the highlight of the night for me, Lilly and Al, saying "cheese" as loud and as long as they could. I must say Bean always has the best smile when Al is around. She really does love her BFF!
Let's try the squatting position.

And back up again,

and lets try different levels.
They are so cute!

This is pretty much how the night ended, sorry Al's face is blurry, but this pic is from my phone. Lilly and Al watching some Dora before they both went to bed.

A few fun pictures!

Just wanted to add a few fun pictures of Bean and I. As I had posted before, Lilly wasn't really digging the pool, until we got a new baby pool for the backyard, she still wasn't too into it but we had fun one afternoon.

Potty Time!

I wish it was potty time, but Lilly still has no interest in the potty. We bought a Dora potty seat from Target last weekend and Lilly was so excited about it. She looked at it the whole time she was in the shopping cart and as soon as she got home she wanted it. Then it was time to get it out of the packaging. Still everything was a-ok. Until, we went and put it on the potty. She did the usual, scream and say "no I don't sit on potty". I was able to get her on for about 5 seconds and that was it.

Oh well I am not going to push it. Of course my Lilly Bean who did everything else, like crawl, cruise, and walk early but the thought of potty training, she is going to hold on for dear life not to do! I know she will eventually do it, but I would love for it to happen sometime before Cole arrives!

Just a few pics, to show how excited she was, again to bad it didn't end well.
